Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station review
If water contamination is a serious concern, Kinetico’s reverse-osmosis filtering system had the best possible filtration overall-though it’s the priciest we tested even before the hundreds you’ll pay annually for parts and labor to change its filters. Its flow rate, though slight compared with other types of filters, was best of all the reverse-osmosis systems we tested. And it has a filter-life indicator, which tells you when it’s time to have filters changed.
The Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station is part of the Water filter test program. In our lab tests, Water filter models like the K5 Drinking Water Station are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
Lead removal: Lead removal indicates the percentage of lead that was removed by each filter.
Chloroform removal: Chloroform removal rates the percentage of chloroform removed. A filter’s ability to remove chloroform predicts how well it will remove organic compounds as well as byproducts created by disinfectants used by water systems.
Flow rate: Flow rate is how fast a gallon of water filtered through the cartridge. The criteria for flow rate scores differ between different types of filters. Faucet-mount, countertop, and undersink models have the same criterion; carafes and reverse osmosis models each have their own.
We are very happy with the results. The whole experience working with the Kinetico team was very pleasant and professional.
The Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station carries a limited manufacturer’s warranty. If the Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station is installed in conjunction with a Kinetico Water Conditioner, the warranty covers the parts of the Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station for ten years and the reverse osmosis membrane for ten years. If the Kinetico K5 Drinking Water Station is installed without a Kinetico Water Conditioner, the K5 Drinking Water Station parts are covered for ten years and the membrane is covered for four years. For complete details, see the actual warranty. The warranty will be void if influent water conditions exceed those specified in the system parameters.
